Russian strikes on Odesa and Kharkiv kill one, injure eight
Russian strikes on Ukraine's Odesa region caused large fires overnight, while a drone attack on Kharkiv killed one person and injured eight others. Emergency services worked under air raid warnings to contain the blazes. Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper reported damage to industrial and port infrastructure, with over 90 firefighters deployed to extinguish fires, including at a dacha cooperative. Radiation and chemical checks found no hazardous substances. Russia's Defense Ministry said it struck two Ukrainian cargo ships in the Black Sea, targeting fuel storage and military equipment, plus a substation in Kharkiv region. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said three drones hit near residential buildings, blowing out windows and damaging roofs in five apartment blocks. The attacks mark the latest escalation in Russia's ongoing strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure.
