Ukraine launches 650-drone strike on Moscow region
Ukraine launched an overnight drone attack with around 650 drones targeting the Moscow region, marking one of the largest such strikes on the Russian capital area in two years, according to Russian authorities on Tuesday. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported 105 drones downed near the city, while Regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov said a 20-year-old man was killed in a village on Moscow's outskirts and several homes were damaged. RIA Novosti reported six people wounded. This follows Ukraine's Defence Ministry claim on Monday that over 51 percent of Russia's oil refining capacity has been put out of action. Ukraine has been systematically targeting Russia's energy infrastructure to curb revenue funding Moscow's war efforts, with Defence Minister Evgeniy Khmara describing the disruption as "carefully planned and systematic work." Russia has vowed to intensify strikes on infrastructure targets, including in Kyiv, as winter approaches.
