India Condemns Russian Strike on Cargo Ship That Injured Indian Sailor
A Russian drone strike on a Turkish-owned civilian cargo ship in the Black Sea killed two crew members and injured an Indian national, prompting New Delhi to condemn the attack as "completely unacceptable." The Indian Embassy in Romania confirmed three Indian nationals were among the crew, with one injured and receiving medical treatment. Ambassador Manoj Mohapatra spoke with all three, confirming they are in good health. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar stated the attack on civilian shipping is unacceptable and reiterated India's support for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The nationality of the deceased is not yet known, though Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the ship's captain was killed. The Black Sea remains a critical trade route facing severe disruption from escalating attacks on commercial shipping and port infrastructure.
