Ukraine says strikes destroyed half of Russia's oil refining capacity
Ukraine's defence ministry claims long-range strikes have destroyed 51% of Russia's oil refining capacity, significantly impacting Moscow's war effort and economy. Defence minister Yevhenii Khmara said the attacks are a major blow to Russia's ability to supply its forces and continue aggression. Russian President Vladimir Putin conceded the strikes have cost Russia roughly 1% of its GDP, a rare acknowledgment of their economic impact. US President Donald Trump blamed Ukrainian attacks on refineries for high petrol prices, saying the Iran war was no longer responsible. Separately, six people were killed in a Russian strike on Kharkiv, and Russian drones hit a grain ship in the Black Sea, killing two crew members. Ukraine also reported using AI-enabled robot guns to shoot down Russian jet-powered drones for the first time.
