Black Sea ship attack kills 2; 3 Indian crew safe in Romania
An attack on the commercial vessel MV Royad Mammadov in the Black Sea has killed two foreign nationals and injured several crew members, while all three Indian nationals aboard are confirmed safe and receiving medical care in Romania. The Embassy of India in Romania reported the incident on Monday, stating that eleven other crew members, including Azerbaijani and Indian citizens, were rescued. One injured Indian national is receiving medical attention at Constanța County Hospital, where Indian Ambassador Manoj Mohapatra spoke with the crew and hospital officials to confirm their good health. The attack occurs amid heightened security risks in global maritime corridors, including the Black Sea, Red Sea, and Persian Gulf. India has consistently raised concerns about threats to commercial shipping, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar addressing the issue at the UN General Assembly and calling for restraint and de-escalation to protect civilian crews.
