Moscow and region hit by drone attack; Sobyanin claims 80 intercepted
A drone attack targeted Moscow and the Moscow region overnight into Tuesday, October 6. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin claimed Russian air defense shot down over 80 drones approaching the capital. Sobyanin stated emergency services are working at debris fall sites but gave no details on consequences. Russian aviation authorities suspended operations at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky airports. The Telegram channel Exilenova+ reported drones struck the Volodarsk oil base, a major facility and pipeline dispatch point. This follows a massive August 18 attack on the region, when Sobyanin reported 620 drones heading toward Moscow, with 180 intercepted. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed 791 drones were shot down across regions, Crimea, and seas. That attack damaged a Wildberries warehouse, causing a fire.
