Drones sink ship off Bulgaria's coast, crew missing

euronews.com —

Drones struck two commercial ships in the Black Sea off Bulgaria's coast on Tuesday, sinking one vessel and leaving its crew missing, in what is reported to be the first such attack in the NATO member's economic zone. Bulgaria's Prime Minister Rumen Radev will address the strikes at an emergency meeting. The sunken vessel, named the Alfa Watan by Maritime.bg, was sailing under a Togo flag toward Romania's Sulina port when it went down roughly 70 nautical miles offshore. The second ship, the Able, caught fire, and its 18 crew members were rescued by a Bulgarian ferry, with some injured. The drones' origin remains unconfirmed. The attack follows a similar incident a day earlier, when a Turkish-owned grain carrier in the Black Sea was hit by a drone and sank after catching fire. Rescue operations are ongoing for the missing crew from the Alfa Watan.
