Ukraine lacks interceptor drones to counter Russian jet-powered UAVs, Air Force says

Ukraine currently cannot rely on interceptor drones to counter Russian jet-powered drones, according to Air Force spokesperson Yuri Ignat, who stated that defenders are using other available means instead. Ignat explained that Ukrainian forces employ aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, and short-range air defense systems to shoot down high-speed drones. While some interceptor drones have achieved successful strikes, their percentage remains low, with confirmed video evidence of such takedowns. Ukrainian manufacturers are developing jet-powered interceptor drones, but these are still in testing and scaling phases. Officials note that four potential interceptors exist, with the first jet-powered model recently approved for military use, though ballistic missiles still require Patriot systems.
