US envoys Witkoff and Kushner arrive in Kyiv after Moscow talks

US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv on Sunday after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, as Washington intensifies its push to end the war in Ukraine. It is their first visit to the Ukrainian capital since the conflict began. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he met his negotiating team ahead of the talks, stating Ukraine is ready for discussions and committed to peace with security guarantees. A 72-hour truce halting airstrikes on Kyiv and Moscow is in effect during the envoys' visits, though Russian strikes continued elsewhere, killing 10 civilians. The envoys held a three-hour meeting with Putin on Saturday, followed by dinner, with Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov calling the talks "useful." A White House official said both sides discussed substantive next steps to be announced in coming weeks.
