Zelenskyy says war likely to continue through winter
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the war with Russia appears likely to continue through the winter, with no quick end in sight. US envoy Steve Witkoff, after meetings in Moscow and Kyiv, said both sides must compromise. Zelenskyy met US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Kyiv on Sunday, calling the talks positive but stressing territorial issues can only be resolved at the leadership level. Witkoff said both Russia and Ukraine must be ready to compromise and narrow their demands. Russia controls nearly a fifth of Ukrainian territory, and at least eight people were killed in Russian attacks on Sunday. The White House said concrete plans for next steps were discussed with the Kremlin and will be announced in coming weeks.
