US envoys take peace plan to Kyiv after Putin talks

US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Sunday after three hours of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, as Washington renews efforts to end the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin described the Saturday meeting as "useful and constructive," with aide Yuri Ushakov saying the US team presented considerations on possible paths to an agreement. Putin ordered a three-day pause in attacks on Kyiv to coincide with the visit, while Zelensky said Ukraine is ready to suspend strikes on Moscow through Monday. The visit comes amid near-daily Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, including strikes on two airports near the capital. Zelensky said a severe shortage of air defense interceptors has left Ukraine vulnerable, while Russia maintains its position remains unchanged.
