Trump envoys encouraged after first Kyiv meeting with Zelensky

White House envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Sunday, seeking to revive stalled peace talks after more than six months focused on the Middle East. The delegation expressed encouragement following the first visit by Trump's emissaries to Ukraine. The three-hour meeting followed a Saturday stop in Moscow with President Vladimir Putin, who reiterated Russia's military goals while pledging continued diplomatic cooperation. Zelensky reaffirmed Ukraine's readiness for dialogue but insisted on security guarantees ensuring Russia cannot attack again. The visit coincided with a limited three-day truce covering only the two capitals, as mutual strikes continued elsewhere, including attacks on refineries and infrastructure. Zelensky is also scheduled to meet with security advisors from the UK, France, and Germany.
