US envoys present new peace proposals to Zelensky in Kyiv

US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev on Sunday, presenting new proposals the Ukrainian presidency called "more effective" to end four and a half years of war. Zelensky expressed fear the war will continue through winter due to Russian President Vladimir Putin's refusal to negotiate directly with him. Witkoff said both sides must compromise, while territorial issues remain the central sticking point. The envoys arrived from Moscow after meeting Putin, and a separate session included European advisors. Putin and Zelensky agreed to pause strikes on each other's capitals for three days, though hostilities continued elsewhere.
