Kushner in Kyiv: US seeks lasting peace, not just end to war

US President Donald Trump's special envoy Jared Kushner stated in Kyiv that Trump seeks not only an end to Russia's war against Ukraine but also a lasting peace. Kushner made the remarks after the first round of talks in Kyiv on Sunday, September 6. Kushner said Trump understands the problem is complex but must be solved to stop hostilities and create conditions for durable peace. On September 5, envoys Steve Witkoff and Kushner met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Moscow, then arrived in Ukraine on September 6. The first round of talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the US envoys has concluded, with a new round beginning that includes representatives from Germany, France, and Britain. Ukrainian officials confirmed European partner representatives are also present in Kyiv.
