US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff arrived in Kyiv on Sunday for their first visit to Ukraine, a day after meeting Vladimir Putin in Moscow to discuss ending the war. They are expected to meet President Volodymyr Zelensky. The White House said the Saturday talks with Putin focused on "concrete plans" for next steps, to be announced in coming weeks. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov called the talks "extremely frank," adding that Russia remains confident it can achieve its military goals in eastern Ukraine. Both sides agreed to a three-day pause on attacks on each other's capitals. This is the envoys' eighth wartime trip to Moscow but first to Kyiv, which they reached by train due to the closed airspace. Zelensky said Ukraine is "ready for dialogue," though Kyiv residents expressed skepticism. Russia continues to occupy large eastern and southern areas, and previous US peace efforts have stalled.
