US envoys in Kyiv push for progress in Ukraine peace talks

US envoy Jared Kushner said Sunday that a US delegation in Kyiv looks forward to making more progress in peace talks to end the war in Ukraine, following the first round of discussions. Fellow envoy Steve Witkoff called the talks "substantive, important" and said the team was "very encouraged." The envoys traveled from Moscow, where they held three hours of talks with President Vladimir Putin on Saturday without a reported breakthrough. European national security advisers from Britain, France, and Germany also arrived in Kyiv for the second round of meetings. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said security guarantees and a dignified peace are needed, with a window for peace before US election focus shifts next summer.
