US envoys arrive in Kyiv for peace push after Moscow talks

US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv on Sunday for their first visit to the Ukrainian capital amid renewed peace efforts following Russia's full-scale invasion. The trip follows a roughly three-hour meeting with Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Saturday, which the Kremlin called "useful" and "constructive." A US government aircraft appeared to fly from Moscow to Rzeszow in southeastern Poland overnight, with the envoys reportedly continuing by train to Kyiv. Shortly before their arrival, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian forces struck Kyiv's Zhuliany and Boryspil airports on Saturday, accusing Moscow of seeking to spread uncertainty ahead of the Americans' visit, despite prior agreements to spare both capitals during US trips. Putin's foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov described the Moscow talks as constructive and trustful, but gave no details on new proposals to end the war. The US side did not publicly comment. Meanwhile, mutual air strikes continued, including a Russian drone killing three family members in Kharkiv region and a Ukrainian drone attack causing a fire at a refinery near Moscow.
