US envoys meet Zelensky in Kyiv after Moscow talks
US peace envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Sunday, as the Trump administration intensifies efforts to end Russia's 4.5-year war in Ukraine. The envoys traveled from Moscow, where they held three-hour talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday, though no major breakthrough was reported. Previous US-mediated rounds, encouraged by President Donald Trump who campaigned on quickly ending the war, have yielded minimal results. Trump hinted Friday that the US has a new proposal without disclosing details. Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov called the Moscow meeting "extremely useful," while a White House official told Reuters that next steps would be announced in coming weeks.
