Putin tells Trump envoys Ukraine situation is complicated
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin told US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow that the situation in Ukraine is "complicated," while praising Donald Trump's efforts to end the war. The talks lasted about three hours. Putin acknowledged Trump faces a difficult situation but continues efforts toward resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said the envoys promised to convey Putin's assessments during their contacts in Kyiv. The Kremlin called the talks "substantive" and "extremely frank." A Reuters source close to the Kremlin said Putin still intends to seize more Ukrainian territory, believing he can secure the rest of Donetsk Oblast by year's end, making a deal along the current front line impossible.
