US Envoys Visit Kyiv, Present New Peace Plan to Zelensky

US envoy Steve Witkoff and President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner made their first visit to Kyiv on September 6, meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to present a new plan to end the war with Russia. The US delegation's talks in Kyiv followed Witkoff and Kushner's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on September 5. Security officials from Britain, Germany, and France later joined the discussions, which were described as intermittent. Zelensky expressed hope for a US-brokered end to the fighting but warned of reliance on European support if the war continues into winter. He reiterated that territorial issues can only be resolved at the leadership level, calling for direct talks with Putin. Witkoff urged both sides to compromise, while Ukrainian officials confirmed negotiations were ongoing.
