Trump envoys call Kyiv talks with Zelensky 'very significant'

US President Donald Trump's envoys said Sunday their first talks in Kyiv with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky were "very significant" and yielded valuable insights. Envoy Steve Witkoff called the discussions "very significant" and expressed hope to "continue this for as long as necessary," while Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, said the trip opened new avenues and taught them much. The pair met Zelensky after visiting Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin the previous day, with talks also involving Ukrainian officials and EU national security representatives. Trump said Friday the envoys would bring Moscow and Kyiv "a proposal to end the war" that began with Russia's February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
