Zelensky: Kyiv, US, and EU discuss support and ending the war
President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that talks in Kyiv with US and European representatives covered both potential parameters for ending the war and short-term support for Ukraine. Three rounds of "very substantive" negotiations took place on September 6. Zelensky said Kyiv discussed air defense, energy support, and US liquefied natural gas, emphasizing expectations for a "winter package" if fighting continues. Zelensky noted the territorial issue remains relevant, stating such complex questions must be resolved at the leader level. Security guarantees, economic assurances, and reconstruction were also addressed. US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived by train, with Kushner affirming Trump's determination to end the war.
