US envoys visit Kyiv after Moscow talks to push peace plan

US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv on Sunday after a three-hour meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, pledging to relay his assessments to Ukrainian leadership for peace settlement efforts. The Moscow talks were described by Russian aide Yuri Ushakov as substantive, constructive, and frank. Russian officials emphasized military successes and the need to address root causes of the conflict, while the envoys presented their own ideas on possible resolution paths and discussed mutual economic projects. In Kyiv, the envoys were met by Ukrainian officials including Kyrylo Budanov, David Arakhamia, and Rustem Umerov. This marks the first visit of American negotiators to Ukraine since the conflict began. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed Ukraine's readiness for substantive talks on realistic options to end the war.
