US envoys meet Zelensky in Kiev after Putin talks as Washington pushes to end Ukraine war

The visit, their first to the Ukrainian capital since the war began, followed three rounds of negotiations with Ukrainian and European representatives. A 72-hour truce suspending aerial attacks on Kiev and Moscow was established during the diplomatic weekend, though Russian drone strikes continued elsewhere in Ukraine, killing ten civilians. Putin stated he believes the conflict is nearing its end, thanked the U.S. for facilitating talks, and said he would only meet Zelensky after a lasting peace deal is signed.
