US envoys meet Zelensky after Moscow talks yield pause in capital strikes
US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv after holding over three hours of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on diplomatic solutions to the Ukraine war. The Kremlin described the Moscow discussions as "highly useful," and both sides agreed to pause strikes on each other's capitals during the envoys' visit. The delegation also discussed potential mutually beneficial economic projects between Russia and the United States. Separately, NATO's US ambassador condemned a Russian-linked drone attack at Leipzig airport, prompting Germany to close two Russian state facilities. Ukrainian drone strikes hit Russian regions overnight, while Kyiv lobbies Europe to use frozen Russian assets to address a defence funding shortfall.
