Lavrov Warns of 'Real War' as US Envoys Meet Zelenskyy in Kyiv

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called Western accusations of Russian involvement in a drone incident at Leipzig Airport the "beginning of a real war," according to state news agency Tass. He compared German sanctions to the start of World War II. US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv by train on Sunday for talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following their meeting with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Ukraine stated it remains constructive and seeks security guarantees. Despite the mediation mission, mutual air attacks continued, with strikes reported in Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and a refinery in Ryazan, Russia. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov did not rule out a trilateral meeting between Putin, Trump, and Xi Jinping.
