Kyiv braces for bridge disruptions as engineer urges logistics overhaul
A Kyiv engineer says a full transport collapse is unlikely even with serious bridge problems, but the city and businesses must prepare by reworking logistics in advance. Architect and engineering expert Oleg Grechukh stated that alternative solutions like ferry crossings can always support critical logistics. He emphasized that the main challenge is daily pendulum migration, urging authorities to reduce cross-river dependence through remote work, local relocation, and autonomous fuel, food, and medicine reserves on each bank. Grechukh also stressed cutting private vehicles to free up corridors for emergency services and military. This follows Russian drone strikes on Kyiv bridges since October 1, 2025, which damaged the Southern and Northern bridges, causing traffic restrictions and prompting additional Kyiv City Express shuttle trains from October 5.
