Ukraine says Russian drone attack ongoing as Trump envoys visit Kyiv

Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia launched 108 drones against Ukraine overnight into September 6, with 82 shot down or suppressed by air defense as of 09:30, while the attack continues. The strikes occurred as US President Donald Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were expected to arrive in Kyiv. The Russian military used Shahed and Gerbera drones, imitation drones, and six S8000 "Banderol" units, with strikes recorded at 11 locations and debris falling at seven more. The attack came despite Kremlin claims that Putin ordered no strikes on Kyiv from September 5-8 to facilitate the envoys' visit. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had pledged to secure Russian airspace for the negotiators' safe arrival and called on Moscow to refrain from strikes during talks. The visit, previously planned for August, was postponed due to intensified Russian attacks, and Zelenskyy said Kyiv would adjust its operation regarding Russian airspace next week.
