Zelensky: Cutting Russian oil trade with India could end Ukraine war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia's economy depends heavily on oil trade with India, Turkey, and China, and ending this trade could force Russia to stop fighting the war. Zelensky's comments followed US President Donald Trump signing the Lindsey O Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act, which allows tariffs up to 100% on top Russian oil buyers including India and China. Zelensky hopes Trump will use these powers if Putin declines to de-escalate. India imports roughly one-third to nearly half of its crude from Russia, citing sovereign energy security needs. Russia's ambassador to India affirmed Moscow's commitment to fulfilling New Delhi's energy demands despite US sanctions threats.
