Zelensky and Trump agree on Patriot missile production in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after meeting with Donald Trump that Ukraine and the US continue work on launching Patriot missile production in Ukraine, with both sides also discussing strengthening Ukrainian air defense before winter. Zelensky called the Tuesday, September 22 meeting in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly positive and productive, stating both countries want the Russian war to end before winter and that possible de-escalation steps were discussed to open a path to diplomacy. The public portion of the meeting lasted about seven minutes, followed by nearly 40 minutes of closed talks. Trump has previously said the Patriot missile production issue is under discussion, and Zelensky reported the US president views granting Ukraine the relevant license positively.
