Zelensky announces new Patriot missile package for Ukraine

Ukraine has reached an agreement for a new package of Patriot air defense system missiles, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on September 23 during a meeting with the Ukrainian community in the United States, without disclosing which country is involved. Zelensky said the deal is an important decision but declined to name the partner. He also noted that participation in UN General Assembly events strengthened international support, with Kyiv signing a security agreement with Australia—the first such deal with a non-NATO, non-EU country—and a Drone Deal with Finland. The Ukrainian delegation held about 20 meetings with foreign leaders during the UN assembly. Zelensky previously said Kyiv is collecting interceptor missiles one or two units at a time directly from leaders, and on September 22 he said the US had not yet given a concrete response on Patriot missile supplies.
