Iran says it won't surrender to US but seeks diplomacy at UN

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told the UN General Assembly on Wednesday that Tehran will not surrender in its war with the US but remains committed to diplomacy to end the conflict, as the US delegation walked out at the start of his speech. Pezeshkian highlighted the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for global oil and LNG shipments, saying Iran will not accept being denied access while others benefit, and warned that permanent hostile fleets and war expansion will not bring peace. His address followed US President Donald Trump's Tuesday speech, in which Trump defended the war, claimed he prevented Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and threatened to "annihilate the Islamic Republic" if no deal is reached.
