Zelensky urges UN to secure Ukraine peace before AI controls battlefields

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned the UN General Assembly that artificial intelligence could begin making military decisions on the battlefield as early as next year, urging world leaders to secure peace before that point. Zelensky praised US President Donald Trump's calls to end the war and cited heavy Russian losses, claiming nearly 248,000 casualties for capturing 1,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. He also named North Korea and China as Russian allies, noting two North Korean prisoners of war were transferred to South Korea. Zelensky expressed regret that Chinese leader Xi Jinping was absent from the assembly, saying Xi could influence Russia more than most. Xi is in Washington for a summit with Trump, where the conflict may be discussed.
