Iran sets three conditions for reopening Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with US envoy Steve Witkoff at the UN General Assembly and conveyed Tehran's three conditions for reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian media. The conditions include the immediate lifting of the US naval blockade, the immediate release of frozen Iranian assets, and an end to hostilities and war on all fronts. Earlier, Donald Trump called the three-hour meeting "very good" and expressed optimism about a potential deal. Trump told the UN General Assembly that leaders should be "united in pressuring Iran," saying he faces a decision on whether to "obliterate Iran" or make a deal. He suggested an agreement could come after November's midterm elections, reiterating that Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons.
