Russian Envoy Dmitriev to Meet Trump Officials in New York

Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev is traveling to the US on Wednesday for talks with Trump administration representatives, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, two sources familiar with the preparations told Reuters. The visit, agreed with Russian President Vladimir Putin, will occur in New York during the UN General Assembly and follows a Kremlin meeting between Putin and US representatives earlier this month. One source said the aim is to sustain Russia-US dialogue and peacemaking efforts, with economic cooperation, energy issues, and a peaceful settlement in Ukraine on the agenda. After meeting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said both sides expressed interest in a limited ceasefire involving grain and energy, and hoped Putin would accept an invitation to the G20 summit. Dmitriev, a US-educated former Goldman Sachs banker, previously negotiated a sanctions waiver for Russian oil and prisoner exchanges.
