Zelensky at UN: Putin, 'patient zero' of war, must be stopped

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, September 23, that Russian leader Vladimir Putin will never be satisfied with territory and must be stopped as the "patient zero" of war. Zelensky said Putin, who already controls 17 million square kilometers of internationally recognized territory, constantly seeks new pretexts for aggression instead of governing his own country. He argued that more freedom for Putin makes the world more dangerous, so this "patient zero" must be deprived of the ability to spread evil further. Zelensky also reported that from January to August, the Russian army lost 248,964 people killed and seriously wounded in Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin is ready to meet Trump and Zelensky only on his own terms, following their September 22 meeting in New York.
