Russian strikes on Kyiv kill two as Zelensky seeks more US aid

At least two people were killed in a new wave of Russian missile strikes on Kyiv early Thursday, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met US lawmakers to request more aid against Moscow. Around twenty explosions hit the capital, preceded by Ukrainian air force warnings of incoming ballistic missiles. Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged residents to stay in shelters, while Zelensky reported strikes on civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, a maternity hospital, and energy facilities, with several injured and people trapped under rubble. The attack follows Wednesday's bombardment that killed at least seven people across Ukraine. Zelensky called for stronger sanctions and missile interceptors, while Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov vowed no pause in Moscow's military operation, accusing Europe of seeking a ceasefire to rearm Ukraine.
