Russian strikes kill eight in Ukraine, hit Black Sea cargo ship

Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure and other targets killed eight people on Tuesday, Ukrainian officials reported, including the captain of an Antigua and Barbuda-flagged commercial vessel hit in the Black Sea. Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretski accused Russian forces of deliberately targeting businesses, farms, warehouses, railways, energy facilities, and residential buildings. Ukrainian forces also escalated long-range drone attacks, striking refineries in Ufa and the Samara region, where Russian officials confirmed one death and four injuries. The strikes hit industrial sites in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Pavlohrad, with four killed in Dnipro. Nearly 100,000 consumers lost power in Chernihiv. The attacks occurred as President Volodymyr Zelensky met US President Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly, despite Trump's claim last week that both sides agreed not to strike energy infrastructure.
