Iran Offers to Reopen Strait of Hormuz Within Seven Days if US Eases Military Pressure

Iran has proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the United States takes steps to reduce military pressure, while also calling for renewed negotiations to permanently end military activities between the two countries. Revolutionary Guards spokesman Hossein Mohebi told AFP in Tehran that Iran has raised its conditions for ending hostilities, citing Washington's alleged failure to honor a June 17 roadmap. New demands include lifting a Saudi-led blockade on Yemen, where Iran-backed Houthi forces have seized control of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Tehran also requires that ships obtain Iranian authorization to transit the Strait of Hormuz, with a possible fee mechanism under consideration. Mohebi warned that Iran would respond offensively to any further US attacks, threatening unprecedented consequences.
