Putin Sends Envoy Kirill Dmitriev to US for Ukraine Peace Talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin is sending his special representative Kirill Dmitriev to the United States for talks with Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and other Trump administration officials, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing two informed sources. The negotiations will take place in New York during the UN General Assembly and will continue the dialogue that began at a Kremlin meeting between Putin and US representatives earlier this month. The visit aims to advance Russian-American dialogue and peace efforts, with economic cooperation, energy issues, and peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine on the agenda. In early September, Witkoff and Kushner visited Kyiv and Moscow to facilitate dialogue toward ending Russia's war against Ukraine. According to Witkoff, the American delegation sought to reduce disagreements between the two sides during those visits.
