Russian drone strikes kill 2, wound 22 in Kyiv after Zelenskyy-Trump talks

Russian drone strikes killed at least two people and injured 22 in Kyiv on Wednesday, hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met US President Donald Trump to discuss ending the war. The attacks hit railway infrastructure, warehouses, business facilities and petrol stations across the capital, with explosions heard and smoke rising over the city centre. The strikes followed Zelenskyy's call for a ceasefire covering energy infrastructure before winter, during which he sought US support for air defences and Patriot interceptor missiles. The Kremlin said conditions for restarting peace talks were not in place, with no plans for a high-level meeting. Russia has intensified attacks on Ukrainian residential and critical infrastructure in recent months, while Ukraine has continued strikes deep inside Russian territory.
