Witkoff and Kushner meet mediators as Iran sets terms to reopen Hormuz

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with mediators to discuss a possible deal to end the Iran conflict, following a "very good" three-hour meeting with the Iranian delegation. A senior Iranian official said Tehran could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within days if the US eased military pressure and lifted its blockade on Iranian ports. Iran's conditions, conveyed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to Witkoff, include lifting the naval blockade, releasing frozen assets, and ending war across all "resistance" fronts. Trump reiterated that Washington is isolating Iran financially and applying pressure, warning that "there will come a point when it's too late" for Iran to survive as a nation. He also repeated a threat to annihilate Iran if no deal is reached, while noting the relationship is developing.
