50 Nations and EU Urge Russia to Cease Fire; US Declines to Sign

Fifty countries and the European Union issued a joint statement at the UN calling on Russia to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine, but the United States did not join the declaration. It urged Russia to accept a full, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire, which Ukraine agreed to in March 2025, and to return detained civilians and prisoners of war. The declaration was supported by 50 nations, including Ukraine, the UK, France, Germany, and Japan. The US, which plays a mediating role in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, was notably absent from the list of signatories.
