Trump threatens 100% tariffs on India, China over Russian oil; Zelensky backs trilateral talks

President Trump threatened to use new tariff powers under the Lindsey O Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act to pressure India and China into ending the war in Ukraine, while Ukrainian President Zelensky agreed to a trilateral meeting with Putin. Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Trump said he would use the law's authority to impose tariffs of up to 100 percent on top Russian oil importers if necessary. Zelensky thanked Trump for support and expressed hope the war would end before winter. The Act, signed Friday, targets Russia's leadership and energy sector but exempts US purchases of Russian uranium. India and China are among the top five importers of Russian crude oil.
