Russian strikes kill seven in Ukraine; Zelensky vows winter campaign

Russian strikes across Ukraine killed at least seven people on Wednesday, including two in a new barrage on Kyiv, as Russia vowed there would be no "pause" in the conflict, according to Ukrainian officials. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told the UN General Assembly that his forces would hit Russian heating and energy facilities this winter, while Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused Europe of seeking a halt to "pump the Kyiv regime with weapons." Kyiv officials reported over 40 wounded and internet cut to some 100,000 households. AFP analysis showed more Russian strikes in the first 18 days of September than any full month since March 2022, with at least four killed in the Donbas region. Turkey called on both sides to halt attacks on civilian ships after 163 of 226 Black Sea vessel strikes occurred this year.
