Zelenskyy proposes limited ceasefire on energy infrastructure

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has proposed a limited ceasefire targeting energy infrastructure, contingent on Russia pledging not to attack Ukrainian energy facilities. The proposal is to be transmitted to Moscow via the United States. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov rejected the proposal, citing the goal of a comprehensive peace settlement. Zelenskyy described a nearly hour-long meeting with President Donald Trump as positive and productive, with both sides wanting the war to end before winter. Zelenskyy clarified that Trump did not ask Ukraine to halt strikes on Russia's oil industry, and no concrete commitment was made on additional Patriot missile supplies. He also warned of intelligence indicating Russia is preparing a new massive attack on Ukraine, urging allies to secure more air defense systems.
