Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev will travel to New York on Wednesday to meet with Trump administration representatives, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, during the UN General Assembly, according to two sources familiar with the talks. The visit, agreed upon with Russian President Vladimir Putin, follows a Kremlin meeting earlier this month and aims to sustain Russia-US dialogue and peacemaking efforts. Agenda items include economic cooperation, energy issues, and a peaceful settlement in Ukraine. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said both Russia and Ukraine expressed interest in a limited ceasefire on grain and energy, and he hopes Putin will attend the G20 summit in the US. Dmitriev previously negotiated a sanctions waiver for Russian oil and prisoner exchanges.
