Russian drone attacks on Kyiv and Odessa kill two and disrupt rail service

A Russian drone attack on Kyiv halted the city's urban rail service and killed one person, while a separate strike on a merchant ship in Odessa killed its Ukrainian captain. The attacks are part of a broader Russian offensive involving 161 drones across Ukraine. The mayor of Kyiv reported eight injuries and one death from the morning attack, with drone debris causing fires in residential areas and at a transport company. Russian forces also struck a shopping center in Zaporizhzhia, injuring two men, and claimed to have captured two more villages in the Kharkiv region. Russia's defense ministry said it intercepted 514 Ukrainian drones overnight, and Poland reported a Russian Mi-8 helicopter briefly violated its airspace for 42 seconds. The U.S. has invited Vladimir Putin to the G20 summit in Miami this December to encourage dialogue.
