Ukrainian Air Defenses Down 119 of 161 Russian Drones and Missiles in Overnight Attack

Russia launched a massive overnight attack on Ukraine from six directions on September 22-23, using 161 drones and 3 cruise missiles. Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 119 drones and all 3 missiles, with impacts recorded at 18 locations. The attack included Shahed drones, 82 of which were jet-powered, "Gerbera" drones, "Parody" decoys, and "Banderol"/"Dan-T" cruise missiles. Launches came from Orel, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo, and occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea. Kyiv experienced multiple waves, with strikes on a warehouse, gas station, and transport facility. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned the previous day that intelligence indicated preparations for a new mass attack. Debris from downed drones fell at 8 additional locations.
