Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that American company Raytheon is ready to begin producing Patriot interceptor missiles for Ukraine, following his meeting with US President Donald Trump in New York. Zelensky said he requested a winter package of Patriot missiles from the US, acknowledging a global shortage of these interceptors, and also asked for licenses to start domestic production of the missiles, which could take one to one-and-a-half years to establish. He noted that Germany has signed a contract to supply Ukraine with 600 Patriot missiles in 2027-2028, and proposed that the US provide missiles now with Ukraine repaying them from the German-produced batch.
